The car in which Jack and Rose make love, was a RENAULT owned by the Carter family. The car of this make was present on the real Titanic.
More info from an interview with James Cameron:
"You can learn a lot of Titanic history from [my] film. All of the historical stuff is done absolutely rigorously and correctly. We didn't take any liberties just because it's a fictional story at its core. Even the story of Jack and Rose is entirely permissible on the ship.
"The car they go into in the hold to make love? That car was there. It was a red 35-horsepower Renault car owned by William E. Carter and insured for $2,500, which he did collect."
And here's an extract from the Titanic film script:
"Jack and Rose enter and run laughing between the rows of stacked cargo. She hugs herself against the cold, after the dripping heat of the boiler room.
"They come upon William Carter's brand new RENAULT touring car, lashing down to a pallet. It looks like a royal coach from a fairy tale, its brass trim and headlamps nicely set off by its deep burgundy color.
"Rose climbs into the plushly upholstered back seat, acting very royal. There are cut crystals bud vases on the walls back there, each containing a rose. Jack jumps into the driver's seat, enjoying the feel of the leather and wood."

It is a Renault Limousine. Why would rich and sophisticated folk drive around in a model T and then ship a tin can on wheels back to America? Patriotism?
quote:
"Being an antique car enthusiast like you, dear readers, I noticed the arrival of the "rich and famous" passengers with their magnificent chauffeur driven 1912 Renault Enclosed Limousine. What a beautiful sight! What leaves me a bit perplexed, though, is the fact that it is this very same car that will be used as a torrid love nest by our two lovers in the hold of the Titanic during the voyage"
