The Hellfire Club. I love the idea of mutants conceiving of plots from within the inner circle of an uber-upscale country club where everyone dresses in clothing from Victorian times and no one except the mutants even know that the inner circle in the club exists.

I think you're a bit late asking this question!
I was feeling guilty having answered RobdeNero's same question before I saw yours so here's the answer I gave him.
To be a secret society hints at deception and threatening, so I can't classify any such societies in terms of enthralling.
I admit to having very little knowledge of any secret societies (perhaps that is credit to them - remaining so secret I have no idea!) but the Masons must be one of the longest surviving socieites (willing to be corected) so that perhaps would make it intriguing rather than enthralling. Absolutely no idea why - who knows apart from the Masons what goes on??! If we all knew then the intrigue would stop so not much fun in that!
When I was 7 I made up my own - FROGS (Frogs Rule Our Great Streams) but I was the only member (funnily enough) but I made a badge so it was slightly enthralling, if not a bit lonely. I still think frogs are great creatures!
