we have been told we're having a boy, and we really like the name joe, but the middle name has to be martin after my partners brother who passed away. does it sound ok or do you think we need to add a name in between? if so any suggestions?

Have it Josef or Joseph Martin.. that way, he'll have the choice later in life to go by Joe, or Joseph. My mother named me Roni instead of "Veronica" where the nickname originates, and I get irritated at her to this day for not giving ME the choice on what to go by. Roni is really cute for a little girl (who's father's name is Ronny..) but as an adult.... it's not so "cute".
Plus, when you get mad at him, yelling "Joseph Martin" in an angry voice just sounds better ;)
Good Luck!!!!!!

It's a great name, but how about Joseph Martin, then call him Joe. Congratulations!

Personally I like the name Joseph as opposed to Joe.

Joseph Martin Smith has a nice ring to it.

Either way though, I like it.

Good luck!

I think it sounds like a good name. But have you considered Joseph and then just calling him Joe? Only because I think it might give him an extra something later in life when he is apply for jobs and such. Good luck and congrats!

I wonder what your last name is...if it flows together and is easy to say then go for it. Somehow no matter what we are named when we are babies it all seems to work out in the end. I especially like it when someone has a history as to why they were named after someone. Congratulations!!
