Scold's Bridles were used extensively to teach women not to speak out of turn, to not gossip and, in the case of workhouse inmates, to not speak to other inmates. However, I have been unable to find any cases where it was used on a man. I know that women have a tendenacy to talk a lot more than men, and gossip is usually associated with women much more than men, but surely there has been at least one man in history that had a problem with jabbering too much...

Radames - I'm sorry but my Father has been dead for over a year now, so you won't ever have the opportunity to experience that luxury.

Marvelissa - Yes, you are right. There are men who use their words for gossip more than just good. Although I appreciate your invitation to join you in a joint venture, I must decline. I do not believe there are enough men that admit they gossip to make the venture profitable. It reminds me of the initial problems the condomn maker (Trojan) had. When they first started selling condomns, Trojan produced condomns in four sizes: small, medium, large and extra large. During the first few years, Extra Large sold more than all the rest combined (54% of sales) with Large cuming in second at 43%. Medium sold

Men gossip just as much as women they just don't do it front of other women they do it with their buddies. My old man talks with the guys he works with about everything from "who is cheating on who", to "who lost his home" or "who is blowing the boss", so trust me they run their mouths more than we do. I can think of plenty of men that could use a Scold's Bridle , George Bush for starters and all the other men running the show that don't know what the hell they are doing.

from a quick look online, I couldn't find any information that would support the use of one on a man way back when, however, modern variants of the scold's bridle designed not to be injurious are used in BDSM play on both genders as a form of gag.

Hey, maybe we should design one - because YES, there are men who use their words for gossip more than good - we could start a trend! LOL
