I have scoliosis and my mother cant bear to let me undergo a surgery, hence she let me wear the brace for about 2 - 4 years. Then Today I was sitting down on the hall, then my classmates behind accidentally touched my back and they found out about my scoliosis condition. Eversince, they seemed to shun me,and keep looking at me. When I turn around, they will always pretend as if nothing happened, why are they like that? I didn't want scoliosis to happen to me too!

Its called fear sweetie. And ignorance. You say until now they didn't know about it. So inform them! Take a close friend from that circle to the side when they aren't around anyone else and confide in them. Tell them how hurt you are over how everyone is treating you now. Then explain to them that its not contagious, they can't "catch" it from you or get sick from it. If they already knew this they wouldn't be cutting you off or ignoring you. I would suggest a girl since they would be more sympathetic by nature. Good luck!!

You need to confront them in a kind and calm manner. They probably don't have a clue what scoliosis is. Give them some information and explain it to them. They probably want to know, however, are uncomfortable asking the question afraid to offend you. Just tell them, and explain to them also that their change in behaviors is upsetting. Sometimes we have fear of the unknown. Silly yes, but true. Good luck and God bless****

They have no manners, but one day they will grow up and regret it. Some people act like that because no one taught them how to behave around people they find different. If they ignore you then ignore them. Obviously they are not worth your time. Your brace will be off one day and then they will regret not getting to know you. It is their loss, not yours. You sound like a bright, mature kid who has a lot going for you. You don't need to be held back by snotty kids who don't know the meaning of politeness.

They do it because they a ignorant. Just ignore them or you could confront them in a nice way. You could explain what it is and how you can not help you have it. They may not know what it is exactly. If i were you I would ignore them because the more you pay attention to you the more they will bother you.

Because they're young and stupid, with no mind of their own. Some outgrow it, some never do. Hang in there kid. Good people ARE out there.. hard to find, but well worth it.

Does your School have a Guidance Counselor?
You could talk to them about it, and maybe
they can explain the Condition to your Classmates
so they can have more understanding of It, and
things with you.
