It's no opinion The best metal band is the Almighty Slayer! nuff said Tom Araya-is a GOD and Dave Lombardo will go down as 1 of greatest drummers in history,and can you think of better Guitarists than Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman, and if someone says chad kroger they need to be beaten. there alot of great bands just not the best same with a lot of others you can think of, megadeath, metallica GNR, Maiden, on and on south of heaven. 2 the people who said Sabbath did you mean Ozzy or Dio because the sound is different between them? Y cant people just say Dio Sabbath or Ozzy Sabbath, I mean there's Van Halen And Van Haggar. to the kid who said Linkin Park I pray ur joking cuz if not I feel Sorry for you.

For me it has to be Iron Maiden. They were the first metal band i ever heard. And how many other bands can come up with a character like Eddie?

It's got to be Metallica. Still rock gods after 20 odd years!
One of the best new Metal (not to be confused with nu-metal!!!) bands around are Disturbed. Down With the Sickness is one of the best tracks ever!

Motorhead - OK a bit new school and a tip of the hat from me to Sabbath and Purple but they're the only current metal band with a lead singer who doesn't sing castrato.
