We humans all have a dream to pursue, we may want to be a doctor in the future to help save lives or even a rockstar in a band. We all have a goal and we work towards it. However, what is the purpose of an animals' existance( except balancing the ecosystem ) when all it does is to procreate and eat when awake and sleep when its time?

Many would say they're here to provide food for us, and although that might be one of the reasons, it's very low on my list. Mostly, I think God put animals here to add beauty and color to the world, and to add joy to our lives. Their purpose in life is just to make this earth a more beautiful, fascinating place just by their existence. think of how boring this world would be without animals!
This next thing is just a personal opinion that I've pondered myself, but I think once in a while an animal will be put in our lives for a very important, certain, specific purpose, to save our lives. This is rare, and many animals endanger our lives, not protect them, but once in a while you'll hear an incredible story about a dog saving a child from drowning, or a pig squealing to alert the neighbors when it's owner has a heart attack or something, and I believe in cases like that, the main purpose that God gave them is to be there in the right place and time to protect mankind.

They get the biological chain going. As for humans, having a goal may be important for oneself, but it doesn't mean anything outside your life or the lives of your loved ones. We are part of the ecosystem and we have the same right to exist as the animals do. Not all humans lives are lived with a purpose... would you say there's no point in those lives???
ANd the basic life of a human being IS in fact sleep, procreate, eat. The value of having a 'goal' is relative. We are animals after all too.

well animals are here to provide food for humans. to provide us with ways of travel .or to be used in work for some in 3rd world countrys,an last but not least to provide us with comfort.if you will dogs and cats,bring a lot of joy to the elderly and shut in people.that other wise would not ever see a single soul there are alot of pitiful elderly people out there that need these comforts ,god bless them, and i could never imagine a world with out them just think about how it would be with out song birds.? no there songs make the world seem peacefull

As humans, we have gotten technologically advanced enough, that we no longer need to spend all of our time mearly surviving, and thus we are able to have goals and dreams. Animals do not have that luxury.

some animals are wild and because of this ,live in forest!! their existence there help trees or flowers to plant in other places!(i cant explain how they do that coz is very funny!!:p)
some other animals are friendly and keep company to humans!!

I bet they wonder the same thing about us. I just imagine them asking: Other than to kill off each other, and us, and destroy the environment, what purpose do those people have?
I'll bet their answer is "nothing".

The answer to this question can be obtained from Philosophy. The concept of re-birth on the order of good things and bad things that one did during his life. And I dont hav any idea on wat is going on in animal life ....

we eat them (cows etc) and they are our companions (dogs etc) and they balance the eco system
