While its true that black holes are invisible, they make their presence known in other ways. The intense gravitational field of a black hole affects everything near it, so if you watch how things move you can figure out where the black hole is. Avoiding one would be a simple matter of staying clear of the event horizon.

Just because they are invisible doesn't mean you don't know they are there. Nasa finds them by looking at stars and seeing if it is getting it's light sucked in or its energy. Also Nasa is building a man made black hole somewhere underground and they predict they will soon make it powerful enough to suck in Earth completely so hold on!

they can see the effect of the gravity of the black hole on other objects. for example our planet orbits the sun because the suns gravity pulls it in.
if there are planets orbiting around what looks like nothing then there must be something black with lots of gravity there, a black hole.
also black holes pull in light so it may appear as a darker spot than the normal blackness

a black hole has such a massive gravity pull, anything near it is pulled in, so although you cannot see the 'hole' itself, they can detect the shift in other planetary bodies towards it, that are close enough to be affected by its gravity

It is possible but not likely. You dont have to woory about it though we are no were near any black hole
