It's been a long time since I've had to worry about this (I moved to the southwest and then the southeast a long time ago). However, I remember, while it was snowing doing lots of reading, and trying to learn things like knitting or crocheting. Once it stopped snowing, I'd dress really warm and either go for a walk or take out the snowmobile or, if the pond had frozen, go ice skating.
I used to love being snowed in. It was the best time of the year. My mother used to bake bread, and cookies, and we drank hot cocoa, or warmed apple cider.

This happened to me when I attended Yale. I got very close to my roommate. We kept esch other warm, and even warmer.
