Whether we like or not we are ALL judged on our past behavior. So, even tho you say you have been being nice for a few weeks(even tho in your next breath you said you you only did it mostly to get something you wanted!) She is probably still reacting to the way you usually are. Nice behavior for a few weeks does not wipe the slate clean but its a start. If you think you are being cruel or mean then you probably are. I know this sounds simple but put yourself in your mom's shoes. Ask yourself how you would react if your positions were reversed. It is hard to say who is at fault between you and your mom, it is probably a little bit of both of you but you are the one who can change things around by changing your behavior. You say she has called you an ingrate. Do you adequately appreciate everything she does for you or do you think it is your due? Maybe some extra kindness and appreciation would make her feel more loved. Good luck and God bless!

Some times you have to be hurtful to someone to let them know something that is ultimately more painful to them. For instance, A child might be having a great time playing with a toy that then breaks and becomes dangerous, you have to take the toy from the child and they are gonna scream and scream coz they still want the toy but you can't let a kid play with something harmful, so, to be kind, you take it from them but it's cruel coz they are crying for the toy. That's a very simplistic example but that's what it's about basically. Oh, or when you have to put that stinging antiseptic stuff on a cut and it really hurts but is has to be done. That's cruel to be kind too.

There is a duality to every action.

Good intentions may help a person out and then again they may hurt a person.

In the end, however; you may have done both.

I knew a person who took care of a dying woman. That person did everything they could to keep that woman alive and make her time on earth as happy as it could be. Then one day she came down with all kinds of problems, blindness, cronic pain, severe nausea, and crippling bruising and brittle bones. It was more than anyone person should have to go through but she tried to live on, and that person tried to make it better for her. One day in the hospital, she had enough and said she wanted to die. The person said okay but that it was not something they could be happy with but it was something that they would have to live with. The woman said I don't think I could be as cruel as you. The woman changed her mind and the person did even more to make her life as comfortable as possible. Months later, however, the lady passed away in her sleep. The person tried to revive her but it was not working. The firemen tried to revive her but it was no good. Finally, the person had to give the firemen a DNR to prevent them from going against her wishes.

The thing is this, in the end the woman was reverred by others for her kindness as was the person. However, she was cruel in requesting that DNR thinking it was kinder to die, and he was cruel in waiting so long to honor her wishes thinkingit was not anyone's place in life to decide to decide to end a life. So, I guess they had to be cruel to be kind .

it means that sometimes u have to upset someone to actually be kind to them, like if someone says "do u think Im fat?" and really want to know then u have to say " Well u could do with losing a bit of weight" or telling ur child off when they are doing something wrong, they will cry but its best for them in the long run, so they can become good people.

Sometimes you have to tell someone the truth even though the truth will hurt. They need to know so they wont get hurt anymore.

Perhaps it could be you know your friend or relatives partner is cheating on them, maybe lots of other people know, is it better to let them be used or should you tell them so that they can end the relationship. You have to think about it before you speak up.

Some times when your girlfriend or wife asks you does my bum look big in this (and it does) you've gotta say yes. Even though its cruel to say yes, it will stop any further embarrassment!!

It's like tough love. Sometimes telling the truth, or doing the right thing, can be painful.

For instance, taking a bar of chocolate from your child so they won't get fat, lose their teeth etc in the future. They won't like you for it but it's better in the long run!
