Your local library will be instrumental in helping you save money. First of all, you can get movies there for free which will cut the need for movie channels on your cable bill or the need for a subscription service or buying DVDs. The library will also offer you magazines and newspapers without the cost of buying. You can get a number of books and magazine articles on tips for saving money. In addition to cutting costs, you may wish to consider increasing income and the library will have books on setting up a home business, business planning, etc. Right off the bat, the library can help you save and/or make a few hundred bucks a year.
Look at your spending now and try to negotiate with yourself what you are spending too much on. Also make a plan for what to do with the money you are spending unneccesarily. Consider a 401K plan especially if you employer is contributing... that's free money.
The areas to look at in your spending plan include housing, food, utilities, transportation, credit card and loan charges, entertainment, gifts, and disposable income. We all have some disposable income that we waste. Why not control that amount a little better???

Hi,
I personally look after my family budget and all spending items need to be accounted for so that at any point in time you know where you are. Requires discipline but that's the only way.
To help you with budgeting I'd recommend a personal finance software by Australian business Parcus Group.
Easy to use program with features including budgeting, financial planning, real estate analysis, shares valuation, life insurance...
Costs US$24 so it's not a huge investment but a good value for money.
You can get it on
http://www.parcusgroup.com/index.html or

If you have credit card debt and are paying interest on it, try to transfer it to a new credit card at a low promotional interest rate.
