Now it globally accepted we are to blame and america are the biggest producers of global warming pollution, will they finally act upon the Kyoto agreement and put some legislation into action?

Or will they continue to ignore the pleas of the rest of the world?

This is about the American government recognising the Global communities concern. Over 2000 scientists worldwide are in agreement that global warming is real and an immediate threat. America can not keep superceeding UN and Global policy for their own selfish reasons and expect people to respect them. The people on here making jokes and ignoring the problem are probably the same ones asking "why does everyone criticise americans" etc etc. Well now you know.

My apologies to the decent responders and I agree with the renewable domestic energy philosophy. But its not what the question is really about.

It is time for the US to realize it is NOT above the rest of the world. The US contributes more to greenhouse gases than any other industrialized nation on Earth.

Unfortuately, car exhaust is not the whole problem. Methane from gassy milk and meat cows contributes approx 500 million metric tons of methane to the atmosphere every year. Say we get all the polluting, gas-burning cars off the roads.... then what? Di-Gel for cows?

Why haven't you done anything? Do you own a rooftop?
There is a technology available that will help cut CO2 emissions considerably: photovoltic panels. These panels can be installed on your home's roof to generate electricity and tied into the grid. Every home owner can be a sun farmer and turn the power of the sun into electricity. If an area the size of Nevada were covered with photovoltic panels, it would generate enough power to provide electricity for all the USA.
There are a number of programs, federal and state, to help home owners install these units. In Ohio, there is grant money available on a first come first serve basis. The equipment is exempt from sale and property tax. Low interest loans are also available.
This equipment will pay for itself within 10 to 15 years.
Anyone concerned with global warming should consider becoming a sun farmer and not wait or expect the government to take action.

It certainly helps that the latest United Nations findings (by scientists who did not get paid for their expertise) *also* support the finding of Global Warming. However, I don't think the USA will do anything significant about it unless we can vote a Democrat into the presidency. Our current administration has too many ties to big oil.

I'm pretty sure Bush is trying to raise the incentives for homeowners to install Solar Power, that would help some. Each Solar Power System equates to planting 1 acre of trees. Yeah!

There are reasons that the US hasn't signed on to Kyoto , Former President Clinton also refused to sign it. I think you might want to look into those reasons before you judge our country so harshly.
