The Trial by Franz Kafka
Its just so scary and chillingly appropriate that someone can get lost in a world of inept and overbearing bureaucracy in a world that still maintains that veneer of polite society but where exists a very real and menacing cynical undercurrent.

'The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe' - when I was 12 that is. I dont think it has the same magic now i'm an adult. Books are so much more fun when you're a kid and can fantasise more freely.
