prejudice is not liking someone or something before actually knowing who or what you are hating. like saying you hate a certain race before knowing anyone from that race is considered prejudice.
sterotyping is branding certain "types" or "traits" on a person based on their group.
some expamples of sterotyping....
Black/African Americans
Poor, relegated to the ghetto/projects/slums
"Deadbeat dads"
Fathering many children with different women; high rate of out-of-wedlock births
Enjoy loud rap music.
Hate Dogs
Street thugs, criminals, angry young men, violent, aggresive
Affinity for watermelon, fried chicken, okra, collard greens
Hypersexual; monster cocks (especially Colin)
Prone to venereal diseases
Good athletes (especially basketball)
Lower intelligence, poor academic ability
Laziness, apathy
Gangstas
[White/Caucasian
Most serial killers are white
Affinity for extreme sports
More wealth than other races
Take a stance of cultural superiority
Egocentric/ethnocentric
Xenophobic
Racist
White women are considered the ultimate prize of other races
Considered the most haughty and prideful race
Descended from Cro-Magnons and/or Neanderthals
More body hair than other races
and the list goes on for other races too.
now true some people in all races will fit into the stereotypes; its a givin. but once you say that you hate someone, something or some race for that stereo before knowing him/her/it then you have officially crossed over into prejudice land

From the Merriam Webster Online Dictionary: Prejudice: 2 a (1): preconceived judgment or opinion (2): an adverse opinion or leaning formed without just grounds or before sufficient knowledge b: an instance of such judgment or opinion c: an irrational attitude of hostility directed against an individual, a group, a race, or their supposed characteristics. Stereotype: 2: something conforming to a fixed or general pattern; especially : a standardized mental picture that is held in common by members of a group and that represents an oversimplified opinion, prejudiced attitude, or uncritical judgment. Theoretically, one can form a prejudice against a group, such as people who constitute “the enemy” for instance, without having sufficient information to even form a stereotype.

Not much, except maybe that stereotyping is a milder form of prejudice. 'Prejudice' is normally considered pejorative (or an insult) where 'stereotyping' is normally relatively neutral, though either can be dangerous if you're not careful.

I will answer that one when you answer this one: What's the difference between prejudice and wisdom? Come to think of it, what exactly did Adam and Eve see when their 'eyes' finally opened up?
