Actually there are coin collectors and then there are Numismatists. A Numismatist not only collects coins, but he studies them and knows the history of the coins he collects. A person with a collection of cents, that has no idea of the history behind the dates he has, is just a coin collector. If he is trying to make money he is an investor. A Numismatist usually wants to know a coins value last, not first. He also has a good library of books on coins and history.
