when did microsoft fix the three red lights problem on the xbox 360?

i want to buy an xbox 360 but i dont want the version that had the three red lights problem, i just wanted to know what i would do to prevent myself from getting the one with that problem.

That problem is over a year old and has been resolved.

But to clarify, the 3 red lights indicates an internal error and can happen to any 360 if something goes wrong with it. It's designed to do that.
