I can't post the full story on here but basically it's about a girl that has a really big mole on her face and is at the hospital to get it removed. While she is unconscious she goes through memories of her past of when she was bullied. All her life she wanted to be invisible and unnoticed. I'll give you the first paragraph..hopefully it might help.

"Yes I was excited, and small wonder. What girl wouldn’t be, boarding a rattling hospital bed, for the operating theatre at St Williams Hospital? This was going to be the day that changed my life. I was going to be normal. Ever since my birth I have had this enormous mole on my left cheek. I wanted it removed as soon as possible, and it was going to happen today."

By the way, I'm not a writer or even creative for that matter. I had to write a story for english unfortunately..

Thanks
xx

I don't know if your story involves a theme of facing up to one's obstacles (in this case the girl's self-esteem issues, I'm just guessing) courageously, but supposedly the French regard a marking high up on the cheekbone ridge of the cheek as signifying courage.

Unfortunately I can't recall the French term for it, but if you were able to find that out perhaps you could work that into the storyline or title.

It was referenced in the book Hannibal, one of the Silence of the Lambs series. The heroine, Clarice Starling, had a mark high on her cheekbone from a gunpowder burn.
