It is not in their interest.
No US president has been kicked out while there is a war on. So START A WAR and keep it going. e.g. Bush
In the UK, the police force is to protect us from INTERNATIONAL TERRORISM.
Great for them! No personal risk, job security, responsibility pay, you get a gun to shoot innocent Brazilian people with, overtime, and expensive trips abroad to offer compensation to victims' families. You also get to stalk Muslims and lock 'em up for no reason. What a life!
Tony Blair dragged us into an illegal war. Now he has to stay on to 'finish the job'. If it had not been for Blair and weapons of mass destruction..................................!
Suffering helps politicians stay in power.
So we suffer!

Man by nature is selfish; while some have more than they will ever need, others have nothing to keep body and soul together. The idea of evenly distributing the wealth of this world so that everybody gets enough to live on is probably a myth that will never happen so long as human beings remain human beings. How many times in your own individual life have you ever thought of giving your excess money or other property to a neighbour or stranger in damn need? It just doesn't happen often, if at all it does. The world could be much better than it is now, but that would require the coming into existence of a world religion that makes "Each the other's keeper", the greatest virtue instead of the current "Each for himself and God for us all", doctrine.

Unfortunately, they are never likely to do anything about it, because - along with organised religion and financial institutions - they are responsible for the suffering in the first place.
The only time they are motivated to action against "suffering", is if there is a profit in it or an opportunity to gain power or control of something.
Example........the US supports Iraq in its war with Iran by supplying weapons.......a nice little earner. They intervene when Iraq invades Saudi Arabia, because of the close ties the US has with Saudi Arabia and the vast oilfields there. Another nice little earner. And they invade Iraq on the basis of WMD, when in fact it is about barrels of oil and lucrative construction projects that are all awarded to US companies to rebuild Iraq. A recent example..........but just the tip of the iceberg (pardon the cliche).
