ok, this might sound like a silly question but im really getting paranoid about giving birth....which is worse..episiotomy pains during and after or elective c-section? should i get an elective c-section just to avoid tears and episiotomy? please tell me your experiences of tears and epis.

Ok, I had 3 c-sections because I can't have natural due to a small pelvic ring so I don't have any epi stories. There are more risks involved with c-sections. My first one got infected from laboring too long and was open for 7 months. The other 2 went fine. I was totally prepared for the second two, but at the last minute I would freak out because you have to get an epidural or spinal tap and so many things can go wrond with those, because they are putting a needle in your back. If I had my choice, I would definitely try to go vaginal and use c-section as a last resort.

hi, i was torn after my son, and they gave me a shot to numb before anything. i would recommend having a vaginal birth with an epidural- you wont feel anything but pressure. also, the tear stung a little after, but it was much better than the c-section recovery time. and no one said u will tear or need an epi. just take it as it comes, and best of baby goodness to you!

Never had a c-section and no u cant opt for one just in case you tear ... u might not tear !!
I had an episotomy on my 1st vaginal delivery had stitches internally and externally ... the recovery period is much quicker than with a c-section ... on my 2nd vaginal delivery i tore and had to have stitches again ... 3rd vaginal deliery no tears no episotomy whoo hoo ...i can understand your fear of giving birth but millions of women do it every day all over the world and once u hold that baby in your arms its all worth while !!

I have only one child but i had a c-section and i would rather be cut on anyday than to have a baby come out of me down there. I prayed for a c-section the entire time i was pregnant. I was not scared to have surgery so i am glad i got what i wanted. It takes longer to recover from a c-section than it would a vaginal delivery but i do not care about any of that. I would go with a c-section anyday. Good luck
