Its just a prediction, mostly found to be true.

But changes do happen in life that make people change. thats not the fact with all of they.
so certainly a psychological question.

Not true in all cases - it depends on what causes the bahaviour that needs changing. In the case of Peodophiles I don't think they can ever change to the extent that they will be safe in society because its something deep within them. Many domestic violence abusers will never change because it's been in them for years and for alot its all they know. However, if past behaviour has been caused by depression or an illness and that illness is then cured then yes the behaviour can be changed. Same with people who steal and lie because they are bullied - the bullying stops and the behaviour changes so yes again - in some cases it seems past behaviour does NOT always predict future bahaviour xxxxxxxxxx

It's only true if you choose not to change. A person can change their behavioural traits but it takes a lot of conscious effort. I think what the psychologists are trying to say is that if you do something you are likely to repeat the action unless a conscious effort is made to change your pattern of behaviour.

Past behaviour predicts potentially likely future behaviour of animals with less complex brain structures than us, more so than it does of humans.

Humans have a self awareness and ability to change their own
beliefs, skills and behaviours as well as their own concept of our identitities, which may or may not fit with the recurrence of past behaviour. If it doesn't fit, we won't find it as likely that we repeat it, we'd be behaving incongruently.

eg. Someone reclassifies themselves (identity level and probable belief level changes) as a new Christian (after committing burglaries etc whilst younger.) The conflict between past behaviour and new identity (as well as beliefs) is likely to deter repitition of theft, than if no such change had taken place.

We humans are at such an advantage over less complex and smaller brained animals! Lets use this to benefit our futures.

Good luck! Rob

Though past life has some impact on future it is our experience that benefit our future character, not our behavior. It's common knowledge that people change. Look at all the great leaders of the world, how different they have become from their weak childhoods. Though some people remain unchanged for some time that doesn't mean they don't change.

> Past behaviour predicts future behaviour? <

'Past behaviour SUGGEST future behaviour' ~

is the better way to put it.

If you / we are talking of 'individuals,' in this preposition, then it depends upon the individuals - as to whether they have been in therapy and have altered their selves and 'patterns of behaviour.'

> None of us ever change <

Just How Many of us do you include in that 'None' then?

"False" ~ sometimes.

the theory is based on the fact that we act automatically with out recognising our actions or pattern of behaviour. however, if one recognises the pattern and has a desire to change it, it is possible to succeed, however, it is hard.... and would it be a reflex reaction one is trying to change, then that i would imagine virtually impossible you would not only have to know the root cause but be able to have an awareness of your self that exceeds the speed that you react (think faster than you act)

Not if one is constantly changing. If one can identify that's past behavior is bad or self destructive, have a willingness to make that change, the future behavior will be different.

I'll be damned! For once Benn said something that made sense! LOL! If predictions always applied, statisticians would rule the world.
