menstrual cramps are caused by a hormone in the uterus called Prostiglandin. Advil,Motrin,Aleve, are prostiglandin inhibitors. so if you take 1 of the 3 medicines then your cramps will not be so bad because you are taking prostiglandin inhibitors. try one of the 3 mentioned above and be sure to read & follow the directions on the package.

Ibuprofen. Start taking it before you have cramps, it takes a day or two to work really well. Heating pads, warm baths and showers also helped me. I also know women who use ice packs with success.

A soft, bland diet has also helped me. Try to avoid salt and eat parsley to help the bloating. Herbal tea works pretty good too.

I am not much of a pill taker...once I had my son cramps seemed insignificant to me. Labor...now that's pain. Anyway, try using a heating pad, drink some hot tea and cranberry juice helps too. Hope you feel better soon!

Doctors and Mom's now would definitely disapprove but-- my grandma and my Mom would give me Gin, it works! No-- not to get drunk. It really has a medicinal use too! Just as a little Brandy is good if someone feels suddenly weak or faint. But the Gin always did the trick for me.
