Yes.

But the times are a'changing.

There are many online methods to sell a home. If you go to the Zip Realty web site, you'll be able to see articles from the Wall Street Journal, USA Today, etc., that discuss the dwindling role of the Real Estate Agent.

My recent experience is most people under 30 have moved away from using traditional Real Estate Agents. Online listing services - many of which will get you an MLS listing - and the free Craigslist postings have made it easier to sell you home on your own. So why not at least give it a try?

Many of the online services offer ala cart pricing for things like contract negotiation and home showings. So you can buy what services you need. And when it comes time to talk legal, find yourself a real estate attorney to handle that stuff. It will cost you, but much less than a Real Estate Agent's 5-6%.

Good luck.

I am a real estate broker. Have been in the busn for many years.

When I go to a new area to buy. I use an agent. The little bit that they "cost" is totally worth the services that i get. The seller's pay the commission. If you approach the seller direct most of them want to save the full commission on their side an not share the savings with the buyers who need protection.

The best way to get a really good agent is to ask for a referral from someone who has used one and liked the job they did.

best of luck,
