Pre-Crisis Superman had unlimited speed, the same as the Flash. He could go at trans-light velocity, so that they rarely specified how fast he was actually going. In one classic story (The Sun of Superman) he was trying to lure in a cosmic creature that fed on radioactive minerals like Kryptonite without getting too cloese to it. He thought “Kryptonite must make excellent starship fuel. I’m going at ten times the speed of light and the thing is having no trouble keeping up with me!”
However, post Crisis, Flash is the fastest man alive and Superman probably has a little trouble getting close to light speed. Flash is tied into the Speed Force, while Superman is not.
Also, he does not fly at lightspeed while in Earth’s atmosphere. A solid object colliding with even gas molecules at lightspeed would generate energies similar to a huge nuclear bomb going off. I believe that he is capable of flying around the world in a few minutes.
At a very minimum, he is ‘faster than a speeding bullet’. Most bullets (military and hunters’) travel at supersonic velocities. He can probably cruise at Mach 2 or 3 (two or three times the speed of sound) with no difficulty.

Depends on WHICH version of superman you are referring to. Originally, when he first appeared in 1939 he could not fly at all, only jump vast distances.
Not long after in the 40's he began to fly, although at only a few times the speed of sound.
It was in the late 50's that he attained a sufficient level of speed in flight that he could surpass the speed of light and travel throguh time and cross vast distances in space by entering hyper-space.
That continued until the 90's when his powers were altered and he gaind a electromagnetic energy powers. Using these he could still attain near light speed.
After that he regained his more familiar powers and is again able to move at speeds in excess to that of light enabling him to travel in time, and traverse the barriers between dimensions.
