the answer is 2
multiply the quotient and the term (x-3)
then add the remailder(in this case=2)
the polynomial f(x)=x^3-14x+17
put x=3 in the function
and u get 2

x-3 divides the polynomial with remainder=2
in remainder and factor theorem, we know thar if f(a)=0
then x-a is a factor
otherwise the remainder is the value of f(a)

because F(x)=(x-3)(x^2+3x-5)+2
then asume x=3, then F(x)=2
