have also done work in post office and warehouse work..pharmacy tech...clerk in retail...good at math..I did not think that nursing would be a profession where there was age discrimination, esp. not at 50s but am finding maybe that is one reason why there is nursing shortage..they don't want to hire or keep older nurses... d/t higher medical insurance premium costs for older workers (can hire 3 younger ones for cost of 1 older one).

I am an LPN...they are not employed in hospitals usually...Can not travel, have pets and a home here..trying the senior employment center here, but was kinda looking for names of specific companies that like to hire dependable older workers...maybe there are none?

Contact your local job service or workforce center. They will be able to put you in touch with organizations that specialize in employing experienced workers (A.K.A. those over 50). Our local organization is called Experience Works, but I don't know if it's national.

At this age, I think you should not get a very heavy or stressful job. If you know about computers, perhaps online work at home will be best for you. The nursing profession has decreased because of AIDS & HIV. Older nurses are preferred because of there bedside manner.. Maybe you should try another hospital. Good Luck

You could try working in fast food restraunts like McDonalds or KFC. Or you could be a home tutor.
