A Heel is a "bad guy," while a Face (short for Babyface) is a good guy. For the most part, you can consider Hulk Hogan a Face, although Hollywood Hogan (when he was in the old WCW with the New World Order) was a Heel. They're old terms that stem from how the good guys are supposed to look charming and nice while the bad guys are supposed to be ugly, like a heel of bread or like they got their faces bashed in the the heel of a boot.

Basically a Heel is the bad guy eg Edge, Orton,Umaga, Khali,Masters.Any wrestler that the fans hate & vice-versa.
The Face or Babyface is the good guy eg Cena, HBK,Hardyz,Carlito, Lashley.Any wrestler that the fans love & will raise the roof over when they make their appearance in-ring.

The babyface or face for short is the good guy. The heel is the bad guy. The tweener is neither a good nor a bad guy.
