At around 6 weeks I noticed my baby couldn't turn her head one way. At first it was thought to be Toritcallus, but later that has been ruled out. Over the months her head tilt will switch sides. While she is tilting to the Left, she can not tilt her head to the right and vice verca. She will tilt one way for about a week and then switch the other way. She has had x-rays, eyes checked and even been to a Torticallus clinic in Childrens hospital. They have ruled out Torticallus. My pediatrician basically said to me that he has ruled out anything serious, he doesn't know what it is but he's not concerned. Has anyone ever experienced anything like this or know what it is? Thanks

My daughter is now 12 months old. We also did physio with her for about 8 months. It didn't help at all.

saw this on tv just the other night...3rd, or 5th cranial nerve palsy, dont think this can be ruled out until the child is old enough for a detailed eye examination.

I'm not completely sure what it is, but I do know that young babies generally favor one side to the other. My daughter couldn't turn her head to the left for the longest time. I'd lay her down and her head would automatically face her right side. My pediatrician said this is normal for all young babies. Sometimes their neckmuscles are just used to looking that way. When they are in the womb, they are facing on way or the other. It's the same as when they tend to keep their legs in and arms scrunched in. It's what they were used to in the womb. I don't know if this the same for your baby, but I'd go for a second opinion if you are concerned. If other doctors rule out any serious condition, it may just be something that will work its way out in time.

Hopefully this is just as simple as she just picks a side and then switches. This must be so frustrating for you. I hope you can find some answers.
