If a couple in their 40's are renting, both working full time. They obviously have to pay for their kids education, kids in general, bills, food and rent. So you cant imagine there would be much left over to save. would their superannuation be enough to retire on for 10-20 years or would they need to be saving alot??
by the way i don't know if America has superannuation...

it doesnt because ive never heard of it. We assume kids for couple in their 40s renting? I would think they'd own by this stage in their life.

We do, we call them pension plans.

if what you're contributing to your penison is enough, well that'd depend on how much you were making, where you live, and things like that. you could always do some basic math, but I'm willing to bet just on a 401k alone wouldn't be enough to provide a comfortable retirement, i'd probably consider some more investment options which could pay off big in the future. If you can, talking to a financial advisor might be a great help.
