Using his first name calls attention to himself but separates him at the same time.
I think he thought he presented himself as better than while suspecting that he was actually worse than those around him.
It annoys people because we can feel the rejection and see the arrogance.

I think anyone who refers to themselves in the third person is a little strange.

I find it pretty annoying when anyone refers to themself in the 3rd person. It should be banned.

I think it's lame, reminds me of that Seinfield episode with "The Jimmy" who refers to himself in the third person. Pretty soon George was doing it too. Funny to watch, but can't imagine being around someone who actually did that all the time.

In the 'Grand Scheme of Things' this is quite a trivial matter; however, if this personally offends you, then don't socialize with those persons.
