Um, lemme think....NO. All Americans came here as immigrants. Except for the Native Americans, which were effectively wiped out. Deportation of ALL Middle Eastern immigrants because of POSSIBLE ties to radical Islam is taking hopes for security a few hundred steps too far. Having no Middle Eastern immigrants in the US doesn't stop terrorism. It doesn't make us all that more secure. Let's just hope that people from whatever background you're from don't ever cause a security panic...or you'll be trying to deport yourself.

Updated: Seems I hit a sore spot...why post a question so controversial if you can't take people's opinions without getting offended and throwing out insults? I live in an Air Force town. I'm right in the middle of all the security hype and panic. And I still stand strong on my opinion. America has always been about striking a balance between liberty and security...and like I said, deporting ALL Middle Eastern immigrants would be taking the security TOO far.

So regardless of whether we have actual proof as to whether these people are dangerous, and regardless of whether they are legal or illegal immigrants, we should deport them ALL? And if we are going to be fair and deport them ALL, where would we deport them to? Their countries of origin I presume. This will only be a problem for the vast majority of immigrants who are here because they would be persecuted or even killed in those countries. Well, you might answer, they could be separated. But if that could be done, why isn't it being done already?

Your question itself, the tone in which you have written it, and the tone in which you reply to those who disagree with you indicates what most Americans don't realize: the terrorists have already won, at least to a large extent. Americans don't care nearly as much as they used to about civil rights, the Constitution, and our position as a world leader--all because we have become paranoid about terrorist attacks. (Granted certain politicians and media outlets have fanned the flames on this one.) Many countries deal with much more serious terrorist threats than we do on a per capita basis, and they handle them with a good deal more seriousness and maturity.

You want to improve the quality of life in this country? How about deporting all those people who are convicted of drunk driving each year? You are MUCH more likely to be killed by a drunk driver than by a terrorist. Or how about doing something serious about tobacco? Only about 3,000 people died on 9/11. Over 500,000 people a year die as the result of the use of tobacco products.

NO. One of the greatest miscarriages of justice we've had in the USA was the Japanese interment camps during WW2, and now you want to do even worse? If you don't believe in the basic rights given to all citizens--including immigrants--in the United States Constitution, YOU are the one who should be deported.

Another way to prevent terrorism will be to keep americans in america itself. For their adventure in Iraq , they can definitely expect callers home. If 600,000 civilians are killed because of your presence there , don't you think even a small percent of the victims families will think of signing up for jihad?? and a small percent of success in their numbers will cause you sorrow. Don't you realize it?? And america is increasingly getting isolated itself. the world does not need america to go on with life. americans can't even look after their own (Hurricane Katrina ) people. Now they go about righting the world!!!
