most likely thats a watermark. Either, the videos were made with a trial version software or your quicktime is a trial version. download the latest quicktime, that should be good or else it must be the files. I like to use real player to open my slideshows and videos but only quicktime for mp4

There are sneaky ways these days for companies to get features enabled, such as associating all file types with one particular type of software. Another option is to go to Windows Media Player or whatever progran you want being your default one, and checking the settings in there. For simplicity, I keep all of my files as mp4 or avi.
