1) so we could feel better. Nothing makes a person feel better than seeing how much worse some one else has it. Whats better is to get them to beg for our money. It's a way we delude ourselves that our country is so great.
2)There is always a condition attached. Like most of the money used for rebuilding must use American companies. That way we can spread the rich among our wealthiest. Like our population control program for third world, we give money to this program only if the program use only AMerican condoms.
3) good will. If we offer a favor like loans to a country, they might return the favor when we are in need. Example, we use to loan money to china via world bank. Now we're borrowing money from China.
4) We are using the loans also to hide bribery and other "illegal operations in the Middle East" It takes money to grease the wheel, but it would be improper to say to AMerica, we spent 1 billion to bribe the Iraqi parliament.

You know you just asked the $64,000 question. But that has been asked for along time, since WW1, or possibly earlier. But the way I see it, if we don't help out to some extent, then the countries that are power hungry will eventually turn and want what we have, in our country. I don't agree with all the countries that we have helped out, because as soon as we get them on their feet, they don't want anything to do with us. I agree that we need to start at home first, then help the other countries. But be more selective.

USA is just a joker who wants to become the hero. For the fulfilment of its above aim it is staging plays as it is helping other countries. Only due to the BT cottons 1000s of farmers committed sucide in India.

because we also have a foreign policy implemented in our government system. what kind of country would we be if we just kept all the wealth and benefits for ourselves? there are a lot of people in the world who also need help. besides, we wouldnt be a democracy if we only worried about our own.

We need to start taking care of our own country and take care of our own problems for once instead of trying to make other countries become just like us. This country's government must learn to mind its own business and keep its nose out of other countries affairs. once we get our own country's problems taken care of then maybe we could help other countries with theirs. Buy even them ONLY if we are asked to do so by them

A time will come and expose who they are?
What they are?
What is there purpose out there in planet of apes.
At the moment just enjoy clubbing and throwing pots and pans at one another in planet of apes.
When the yellow ribbon comes out can no longer do that in planet of apes.

Can't be a world leader unless you go beyond your own borders

...especially if you go and make a mess behind another country's borders.

as for sitaras answer, i didnt see whoever was responsible for 911 cleaning up after they made a mess within our borders. now for your question... ive been asking myself the same question for years. we have children and families in our own towns, and on our own streets who need to be fed, clothed, housed, but we are too busy doing that for everyone else.as for rebuilding over there. we need a leader who doesnt see international conflict as childs play. he has this need to clean up the other kids playground while he is still playing in it. we need someone who has.. umm....(trying to be polite) (i cant) balls.
