In order to get a tax deduction for out of pocket medical expenses you have to itemize deductions on your tax return. Artificial teeth and caps and cleanings and mileage driving to the dentist are all examples of medical expenses that could be deductible.

That would count as dental expenses, so you could deduct them as medical expenses. You have to itemize to do that, and have to subtract 7.5% of your income from your total med expenses - can only deduct what's left after you subtract.
