I had a rabbit with head tilt once, and it was caused by ear infection. My bunny recovered after 3-4 weeks or so on antibiotics, and her head untilted after that. Sometimes even if the bunny gets better its head stays tilted, but is able to walk normally. The vet should be able to tell if an ear infection is causing it. Maybe you should try to find a vet that is more experienced with rabbits.

This IS a serious situation and the bunny could die if not treated properly quickly enough. Good luck!

I'm sorry to tell you, but it sounds like your rabbit had/has wry neck. I used to raise rabbits and was formerly in a rabbit 4-H club as the vice president. One of my rabbits had this. You have a decision to make. You can try to get her to a vet to see if any antibiotics will help, even if it means going to another town. You can wait it out and see how she does. However, if she gets worse, there is no cure and you will have to decide how to deal with this. Often the head of the rabbit will continue to tilt, even after other symptoms are gone. We had to put my best-in-show doe down because of this. I'm terribly sorry, and I hope your rabbit fares well.

My friend's rabbit had head tilt, too. The vet told her the rabbit had a stroke. If your rabbit had a stroke, there isn't anything that can be done.

I hate to say it, but my friend's rabbit died soon after the head tilt started....

I had 2 rabbits with this. The vet said that rabbits do not get strokes although it looks like one. They did some tests and said it was a bacteria that affected the brain and antibiotics may or may not help depending when you start giving it.

We see alot of these cases at our emergency clinic, and there is no definitive way to tell which its caused by, other than waiting to see if it will respond to antibiotics. Many do really well. Do they have her on Meclizine?
