India is a traditional country and extramarital affairs are a hidden lot . One thing is sure in a country where Kamasutra has evolved there will be lots of such activities going on but the statistics I am afraid will be only a guessing and could be only a tip of an iceberg.

No actual statistic are available for the data. All people can suggest is according to their own study of their own small known globe and present you the data...
You cannot consider the evolution of kamasutra in the country as the base of extra marital affair. Kamasutra is just the study of sexual interactions and about the different ways a person can enjoy sex.
As far as my globe is concerned (which includes somewhere between a 100 to 150 married couples between the age group of 27 to 45) I feel the percentage is as low upto 5%...

% unknown. However a wife's sexual intercourse/s with other/s is no offence in any Indian law. Her husband can get divorce if proves, yet he has to maintain or pay her till her remarriage even if she is fearlessly enjoying sex with other/s. .. Premarital sexual relations with other/s is also no offence in India, or a ground to seek divorce even if proved or fearlessly admitted/confessed. Prostitution (commercial sexual trade) alone is punishable under Immoral Traffic Prevention Act 1956 whereunder no Sub Inspector or Inspector can arrest anybody or search any premises. Yet some (usually known as fundamentalists or orthodox) blindly voluntarily believe with unshakeable faith that all unwed sexual acts are great sin and heinous crime against society punishable with publicly lashing/death by pelting stones. They practice such outdated ideology even in this 21st century uncaring severe criticism from others. % of extramarital affairs is very less or negligible in them. ... Others need not follow the teaching/commands they are practising.
