Do we know everything there is to know about fire? Or are there some unanswered questions we (as human civilization) still don't have answered? If so, what are they?

Fire is a simple chemical reaction, releasing energy in the form of chemical binding energy. Hydrocarbons have more energy in their hydrocarbon form than when split and combined with oxygen. It takes a little bit of energy to split the hydrocarbon chemicals, but ultimately fall into a lower energy state when combining with oxygen (into CO2 and other excess gasses). It's a chain reaction in the case of wood: the heat is the little bit of energy it takes to split the hydrocarbons, and the fire is the energy released when they fall into their lower energy state by combining with oxygen.
