Harvey Bernard Milk (May 22, 1930 – November 27, 1978), an American politician and gay rights activist, was the first openly gay city supervisor of San Francisco, California. He and Mayor George Moscone were assassinated in 1978. His assassin, Dan White, was sentenced to seven years in prison. Outrage over the verdict led to widespread rioting in San Francisco by enraged homosexuals and others. Milk is seen by some to be a martyr to the LGBT community.

Huge activist for gay rights...didja know that there is an Academy named for him in the Castro district that is an "alternative" educational facility for teens? Cool, huh?

Yes, I remember Harvey Milk. I remember the twinkie bar defence. I remember it all....Harvey Milk was also the hope for a lot of us in the 1970's...he was openly gay..and a public figure..people nowadays don't even bat an eye..but then it was a much bigger thing...Yes, I remember Harvey Milk.

Jason, I love how you're trying to bring some education to the LGBT section. But the way you're doing it, it is going to get reported and deleted.
Just like we report the homophobes and fundies when they post statements instead of questions, they return the favor.
