Not sure what movies you're watching, but yes, cell phones are annoyingly common.

Yes, constantly. Watch some current American television shows, drama specifically, and you'll see a lot of cell phone use. Movies surely show them too though if the movie isn't too old.
There's an American movie called "Cellular". It's a thriller and in a way it's based on a cell phone.

Are you watching movies made after 2000? Cell phones are common to the point of being cliched, and there are several movies out now with a cell phone as the basic theme.

Cell Phones are more common in America then in India and you might have missed those scenes where they are shown.
Definetly there are scenes in movies where there are no cell phones but they are mostly of offices, in U.S. many commercial offices don't allow cell phones as they may be used to transfer the secret information.
But in all the movies you can see the cell phones. eg. Matrix, Bourne Identity, and many more.

I think it is because watching people in real life on cell phones is annoying - so why do it on film....
Yes, there are too many people walking around talking on cell phones and not paying attention to what they should really be doing - like driving.....people just walking around talking to themselves...Especially now that they have the earphones....Least when they had cell phone, it looked like they were talking on a phone - now there is just people walking around talking to themselves....very wierd.

Yes, I don't live in America, but you don't have to to know how annoyingly common they are! I live in Australia, I don't have a mobile yet but I see even 8-9 year olds with mobile phones!
It's crazy - technology is the future. And you see them plenty on movies.. or at least I do.

It is ages since I saw the landline phones in the Holly wood movies. May be you are seeing more Adults only movies, where they are showing the characters busy with things other than talking in mobiles.

Yes,of course.
Americans Just use the mobile when they need to,they don't waste their time talking on the mobile,playing games,exchanging real tones
through blue tooth,they use their minds,take the benefits of cell phones whenever they need it urgently.

Movies are for entertainment and it is not entertaining to watch people talk on the phone.

are you kidding, there are 5yr olds with cell phones i personally have to walk around with two two, company nextel, personal cell and a pager which is also work related,
