I think so many people want to portray the image that society is feeding upon us that most are missing the big picture...To me success is being able to surpass myself everyday, and reach my own personal goals...Doesn't mean to have a house, a car, a wife and a doggy that jumps on your chest when you come home! As long as you accomplish what drives you in life and you are happy doing it, then to me that is NIRVANA!

It's a little too simplistic. Both the position reached, and the obstacles overcome are relevant, but there are other considerations to be made as well - for example, after reaching that position and overcoming all those obstacles, did the person find what he was looking for? is he happy? fulfilled? Is he serving some higher purpose, such as helping others? Success is too complicated a concept to be wrapped up in some 'cute' quote.

I feel success should be measured by happiness felt and shared. I do agree with Mr. Washington also.

Measuring on a day-to-day basis, yes, but as the world sees it the pass-fail grade goes to the highest climber.

I agree but I would add reaching your own goals is important too. If nothing else works..."LOVE WILL FIND A WAY!"

yes, that is a great quote. I also love this one: Martin Luther King said "not everyone can be famous, but everyone can be great - because greatness is determined by service."
