Doc. prescribed Ambien months ago and it worked. Then months later he prescribed it again and it didn't help. Tylenol PM keeps me up.

I find Unisom works great. One tiny little pill puts me out all night. But it's not something I'd want to take on a regular basis. Just every now and then for occassional insomnia.

1. Regular exercise can help you feel more rested with less sleep.

2. Consistent bedtimes.

3. Watch for things that might interrupt your night (such as drinking too much before bedtime and having to get up).

4. No caffeine after 3 pm.

5. Look for other triggers that might mess with your sleep.

6. Write things down if you do too much thinking at night.

7. Eye shades / Ear plugs

8. Relaxation / Mediation cds before bed.

9. Oh and my favorite hot steamy sex (onesome, twosome, threesome, ... just get some).

10. There are several websites to check out on improving sleep and the principles would be similar to what you are asking.

Hate to say it, because it is illegal, but a bowl or 2 of marijuana is great for helping you get to sleep. Another thing to try is a wine cooler. If you are not a heavy drinker, 1 or 2 coolers should make you more tired than anything. That being said, have one, and lay down. Don't drink too much or your sleep will not be refreshing because your body will still be working off the alcohol.

Hope this helps

A glass of orange juice. A nutritionist told me this years ago. Meditation. Focus your mind on not thinking. If you have to think, count sheep. Close your eyes and look upward 3 times. Will knock you right out.
