There are a lot of different kinds. The most common is Ortho Tri-cyclen (which also has a cheaper generic version) but there are others that give you lower hormone doses or are taken in a different sequence. With that one you have your period every month but there are also pills that allow you to only have it a few times a year. Talk to a gynecologist to find the best one for you. If you don't have health insurance go to a free clinic.

Birth control pills are preventative only. If you are already pregnant, they won't end the pregnancy. The "morning after pill" is just a concentrated dose of the hormones in the birth control pill and will only work BEFORE the baby (which is made of a couple of cells at this point) has attached to the uterine wall.

To avoid getting pregnant at all, take birth control pills, available by prescription from your doctor. Generally, you take one pill at the same time every day for three weeks, and then have one week with no pills in which you will have your monthly menstruation. If you decide you want to become pregnant at a later date, just stop taking the pills, and you will be able to get pregnant as soon as you stop taking them.

If you are afraid you might be pregnant, and you don't want to be, talk to your doctor about the "morning after" pill. It's only effective for about 3 days after unprotected sex, and prevents pregnancy about 70% of the time.

If you are might be pregnant, and have had a positive pregnancy test or missed menstrual cycle, talk with your doctor about your options. He will be able to tell you if you are pregnant for sure, and if you are but don't want to be, there's an abortion pill you might be able to take.

Hope this helps...

We have this ObGyne who prescribed my wife contraceptive called Trust. At first i thought it was a condom but it is actually a pill. However, i recommend you to ask an Ob Gynecologist so she can prescribe the right med. Because what is right for my wife may not be suitable to yours. I always advice you to contact your doctor to avoid any allergies or complications to avoid compromising your girl's health. But if the girl is already pregnant, i suggest you don't take any med. Let the baby live for Christ's sake.

If you are not already pregnant, Ortho-tricyclen is really good. My friend got on it just to keep her periods under control (she has her tubes tied).
Go to your doctor and talk to them about it. They can help you more than Yahoo Answers can. You have to see your doctor because it is only avaliable with a prescription.
Good Luck.

A little birdie told me that lemon juice can stop little swimers, but I suppose that doesn't count. The bee said don't do it!
