What are the strengths and weaknesses of the feudal system as portrayed in the Song of Roland?

We have to do an essay on the song of roland and I was just interested to see differing opinions on the two questions above.

Hey Tiffany,

Persistence is one theme. God is another, like they are doing God's work - but that to me is just wrong. So Rolland dies, and the King is sad. It is well written, strong lyrics, nice tempo at least the words. The weakness of the feudal system is that the Young prince will not be around to bear the fruit of his loins... He died for what, glory? This always gets me. Like the Men from the USA, brave and bold doing their country's dirty work. It saddens me each time I hear of a local boy killed... And for what, that is not a war on terror, and to the point, what war makes sense. The lyrics say "for fair land", which implies your security and safety - this would be the only excuse in my book for a war. I am rambling, hope this gave you some ideas.

Repetition is boring and annoying.
