Argh, you made me remember!
I was young - 12ish?- and it was around 1960. We are walking down a country lane, holding hands on a gorgeous day. Looks like a greeting card.
He stops, turns to me and says: "How 'bout a kiss?" I am overwhelmed with happiness and panic. So I say "yes." And kiss him on the cheek! And he says "that's not what I meant". I was so embarrassed, my mind has blocked off everything after that moment.

Yes dear, I've been in very similar predicaments and I have damaged some dental work gritting my teeth when they have asked, "how was that?"...whether asking about kissing or other things. I hate it when a guy asks me that. It grinds right up next to "what are you thinkin'?" ewww! First of all, if he has to ask how it was, dump 'im. You shouldn't have to interpret to a guy a simple act of kissing. You're far better off just telling him the truth right off to bat, because it will only hurt him more down the road. Yeah, it's cliche, but it is true. Yes, he's probably going to be hurt and angry at first, but he will get over it. Once you tell him, I promise you're going to feel like a Mack truck has been lifted off your chest.

It's happened to me many times. Trust me, when your 29 like me you will probably have many incidents like the one you mention here. And don't worry, this is very normal.
