My daughter has down syndrome and she is one of the coolest people you will ever meet! She is 15 and she is a freshman in high school and has more friends than most of the people in the whole school. Why would you be ashamed of being around them? Who cares what other people think it matters what you think of yourself and if you are ashamed of being friends with someone who is disabled maybe it is you that should be ashamed.

i think you should get to know someone before you decide whether to hang out with them or not. just because someone has disabilities doesnt mean they arent a great person , just as because someone has no disabilities doesnt make them a great person.you should always give people a chance , you never know what kind of wonderful friendship you can find in people that you never thought of before

Pretty much the same as my feelings about 'abled' people.
I take them on a case-by-case basis.
I mean, let's face it, discriminating against someone because they have a disability is about as childish as not liking girls because they have 'girl germs'.

Look, mate, my wife was disabled and we had two kids, see. She had cerebral palsy so what do you think? It didn't make her less of a person and she was pretty hot. Thank you very much.

It all depends on thier disability to me. As long as it is not self inflicted, such as being a drug addict or being too fat, then I have no disrespect for them at all.

I think of them as i do all ppl. I get upset when ppl make fun of them that is rude and wrong. As for hanging out with them if you are volunteering your time with them then great.

A feeling about a person should be based on who that person is, not on what that person has or does not have.
