mame32 won't read my logitech controller!?

If u don;t have mame32 u prob wont understand....
I have mam32. I have went under the interface tab and selected use joystick it says restart I did but mame wont pickup my logitech joystick. I laso went under the contoller tabs and the option to select joystick will not become highlighted I have tried other programs and it works and my contol panel/game controllers says my controller is working 100% Please help!

Edit the mame32.ini file and change the "Joystick 0" to read "Joystick 1".

That should be all you need to do.
