Take away the supporters that dont come from Manchester and who would be tne best supported team.

Well i'm from there, and the fact remains that i know a hell of a lot more City fans than United.
Lets not forget that there are quite a few other teams within the manchester area that splits the support somewhat too. With Oldham, Stockport big"ish" teams in the area. Rochdale, Wigan and Bolton at a pinch also make up fans from the area.
City I would say have a much larger support of the inner city areas, Most of the united fans tend to live outside of manchester in the suburbs. I would say that its a fairly even split if you take account for all the different fans in the Greater Manchester Area, however the rumour comes from the fact that City far outstrip ManUre for support in the Inner City areas.
In terms of the best supporters its gotta be City, can't see most of the Rag "Faithful" staying with them through relegations and the lack of a trophy for 30 years.

The belief that Man City have more fans within Manchester than Manchester United is a fallacy. There are many more United fans within Manchester than City fans. I saw this on the TV so believe it to be true.
I also heard that the rumour was started by the actor who played Curley Watts in Coronation Street.

Manchester United would win that one easily. The theory that all people in Manchester support city is a myth created by jealous fans of other clubs. Love them or hate them, you cannot deny that Utd are awesome.

Man City. Most mancunians support Man City. Look at the Gallaghers, mancunians and support Man City, most people who don't come from Manchester who support 1 of the 2 clubs will support Man U because they're "Glory hunters" just like me.

Take away the spelling mistake and i may understand your question. . .
City have most fans in Manchester whereas most of the United fans come from down south. I understand when Utd play at City most of the supporters coaches come from down here....

It would still be United because the fans do not come from Manchester alone! Don't forget they are the most famous club in the world..Most marketable club in the world ,good revenues on all items and ticket sales...

Sorry but just because man utd are more successful doesn't mean that have More fans, and if they did they wouldn't be football fans but glory seekers, and they ruin football!
