Because kids learn it from their parents. Blame the adults, they don't even respect each other, why would they expect their kids to respect them?

Did you know that ragging on the younger generations is a phenomenon that dates back to the Roman era? Yeah, even the "Greatest Generation" had its parents shaking their heads and saying, "Kids today. They'll never amount to anything". Also, our culture has gotten more and more casual. What you see as disrespect might just be a cultural difference between generations. Not, of course, that older folks are helping with that. In my customer service job, I actually get people who yell at me for calling them "ma'am" or "sir". My coworkers actually told me it would be better if I stopped using those terms.

Its a passing phase. They will learn to respect by the time they're about 24 or 25. I know co im 26 & I have learned to appreciate my elders much more than I used to.

It's absolutely not that they do not respect the elderly. They are a new generation so they think different.
They want to be free from any family string; rarely to they want to show their respects by body languages. But they might hold the respect in their minds.
Besides, people get overly concerned and angry when they disrespect the elderly and complain, scold them. That worsen the matter, teens tend to show that they do not respect the elderly.

Because they haven't learned to respect their elders yet. There could be teens and other people in their early 20's but you just got to find them.

Why do older people think all teenagers and people in their early twenties are criminals and have no respect for their elders? It's not fair for me to stereotype like that, no is it? I think you have made a gross generalization.
I respect anyone, regardless of age, who shows respect for me, as long as they show intellegence, self control, and just overall goodness.

Because they don't turn into human beings until they reach 25.
Between the ages of 11 and 25, they're bratty, filthy little monsters! It makes it easier for moms to kick them out of the nest. By the time they leave home, we WANT them to!

Sounds like you have no respect for anyone under 20. If I met you, you'd probably disrespect me. Why, then, should I treat you any differently?
