Question is like asking how many stars are in the sky. PHP is extremely popular server-side scripting language being widely used across the web.

alot of websites now are using PHP since it's mainly for programmers since it apparently allows you to do more than html, and html is what I use for my site feel free to check it out:

Quite a lot. I would say (guess!!!) around 60% of web sites that are meant for 'sharing' info are using php.
phpbb.com offers a free knowledge sharing tool that is widely deployed in the world.
