B I never understood why they would select such a labor intensive crop as rice; there were so many other pay crops such as cotton, tobacco, soy beans or peanuts.

by the way southern dude, cotton was just a s labor intensive as rice, that is until Eli Whitney invented the cotton gin

B, until it was easier for them to just draw from the current slaves' children; children were born into slavery.
