0.99...is equal to one and it has been proven approximately 500 billion times around the globe every year (just kidding!).
Since 1/9=0.111....
and 8/9=0.88888
then 9/9=0.999999....
which means that 1=0.9999...
For the billionth time:
0.999999... EQUALS 1
If you just take the time to think about it, you'll get it and finally realize that 0.9999...equals 1, especially if you've taken high-level math classes.

And why are most conservatives so anti-intellectual that they refuse to believe the IPCC report?
It has more data and has received more peer review than any scientific document in history. Science does not get any more solid than this.

It doesn't. Perhaps it is the conservative that believes
that .99999999 equals 1, they've been rounding off the
minimum wage as low as possible for years...they've been
saying a percentage is sufficient. like one can buy a dollar gallon of milk for .99.

I am neither liberal nor conservative, nor intellectual. The number, 0.99999..... is an asymptotic approximation to 1, which is its limit. The two sides of the expression are not exactly the same, though for all practical pruposes, they can be considered equivalent.

Because it doesn't. It is far from it. I'm assuming that you've never been educated enough to take upper-level courses where the difference in these numbers is important.
